Development and Application of Medium and Low Voltage Polypropylene Insulated Cables

In view of inherent problems of XLPE insulation material, properties and processing performance of polypropylene insulation materials for medium and low voltage power cables were studied in the paper. Through material modification, process optimization, and theoretical investigation, 1 kV and 10 kV voltage grade polypropylene insulated cables were developed and successfully deployed in the power grid. Above all, polypropylene insulated cables with their excellent performance and recyclability, represent the future development direction of power cables.
