    Development of 0.6/1 kV Wrapped Type Low-Smoke Halogen-Free Power Cable with Class B1 Flame Retardant

    • In order to prepare a lighter and cheaper 0.6/1 kV low smoke halogen-free cable with Class B1 flame retardant, the structure was optimized by replacing traditional extruded oxygen barrier layer structure with wrapped ceramifiable silicone rubber material. Material, structural design and key process control of the cable were investigated, and Class B1 combustion performance level of the cable was verified. Results showed that combustion performance level of the cable could meet the requirements of Class B1 in Classification for Burning Behavior of Electric and Optical Cables (GB 31247—2014). Combustion droplets/particles, smoke toxicity and corrosion could meet d0, t0 and a1 levels in the standard, respectively. Experimental results could provide a reference for the design of wrapped type power cables with Class B1 flame retardant in the future.
