Development and use of ocean space resources has been further promoted by implementation of the ocean energy strategy. Technology of umbilical for deep-sea production and exploration equipment, underwater production systems, and deep-sea robots in ocean development was introduced. Design aspects of umbilical cables, mechanical properties of static and dynamic umbilical, manufacturing processes, attachments and terminals for umbilical cables were examined. Future advancements in umbilical cable technology was anticipated, could be used as reference for further design and research on umbilical for ocean engineering(19 references cited).
