Prediction Analysis of Armor Layer Wear in Dynamic Cable

    • Dynamic cable is the core equipment in floating wind power industry, which plays a crucial role in deepsea oil and gas extraction systems. Due to complex structure of dynamic cables, there are numerous points of contact and friction inside, making it difficult to accurately predict the amount of wear and tear. Changes in wear surface and wear amount under different friction angles were investigated through the implementation of wear tests. With ABAQUS software, impact of crossing angle between steel wires on wear depth was validated. Additionally, wear amount predictions were carried out using ABAQUS software in conjunction with the secondary development of UMESHMOTION subroutine. By comparing simulated wear prediction results with the results of wire wear tests in dynamic cable, it was observed that the accuracy of the prediction increased with the number of friction cycles, which could be served as a reference for future predictions of armor layer wear in dynamic cable.
