Abstract
According to domestic and international flame retardant standards of electric wires and cables, key technical indicators such as assessment items, sample burning quantity (number),sample binding method, and combustion test time are compared. In terms of standard implementation, differences between GB/T 19666—2019 General Rules for Flame Retardant and Fire Resistant Electric Wires and Cables or Optical Fiber Cables and GB 31247—2014 Classification for Burning Behavior of Electric and Optical Cables are described, and multidimensional research is conducted on intake air flow rate, combustion nozzle, environmental temperature, combustion gas,and heat release testing system during combustion process.Key points and suggestions that are easily overlooked are highlighted. On one hand,it helps production enterprises and testing institutions in wire and cable industry to carry out structural design and testing based on different flame retardant categories or levels, and improves the standardization of testing. On the other hand,it can enable colleagues in wire and cable industry to have a better understanding of flame retardant electric wires and cables, distinguishing characteristics and grades in different flame retardant standards.
