Development of 0.66/1.14 kV Coal Shearer Optical-Electrical Composite Metal Shielded Mining Soft Cable

    • In order to develop a composite cable integrating power transmission and communication functions for coal shearer, a multi-functional cable design was proposed by incorporating an optical fiber structure into the traditional coal shearer cable, thereby reducing multiple cable laying operations in mines. A fusion structure of a high-temperature optical cable and the coal shearer cable was adopted. The cable materials, optical fiber materials, and their structural design were studied, and the key control points of the production process were discussed. The experimental results indicated that the requirements of the coal industry standard MT 818.4—2009 Cables for Coal MinePart 4: Flexible cables with metallic screen for use with coal cutters of rated—voltages up to and including 1.9/3.3 kV were met by the developed cable, and the technical standards for single-mode optical fibers were met by the optical cable part.
