Abstract
Comparing and analyzing the two important standards GJB 774A and GJB 1916A in the field of military ship cables in China, this study explores their impact on the design, manufacturing, and application of ship cables by sorting out the technical requirements, scope of application, and development evolution of the two standards. GJB 774A—2020 is a general specification that replaces GJB 774—1989, providing specific material performance requirements and adding specific indicators for low smoke and halogen-free cables; And GJB 1916A is a revision of GJB 1916—1994,but the revised content is relatively broad and still requires corresponding detailed and standardized support. GJB 774A-2020 is applicable to wires and cables for power, lighting, control, communication, instrumentation, and electronic equipment of various types of ships, while GJB 1916A mainly targets low smoke power cables, equipment cables, communication cables, and comprehensive cables for ships. GJB 774A—2020 places more emphasis on clarifying material properties and refining indicators. These differences enable GJB 774A—2020 to provide more specific technical guidance in cable design and manufacturing, promoting the development of ship cables towards high performance and environmental protection; GJB 1916A has a certain regulatory role in the field of low smoke cables, but its operability still needs to be improved. In general, GJB 774A—2020 is more universal and progressiveness, while GJB 1916A has its unique value in specific fields, which together promote the development of China's military ship cable technology.
