    Based on Industrial Wireless Communication Technology: Retrofit of the Communication Slip Ring in Cage Stranders

    • In the stranding process of submarine cable production, the control signals between the main PLC and the rotating cage were transmitted via slip rings. However, frequent communication signal loss occurred due to long-term wear on the slip rings. A new communication link, composed of Siemens SCALANCE W series industrial wireless communication modules and leaky coaxial cables, was adopted to replace the original slip ring communication structure. This enables stable transmission of control signals between the main PLC and the rotating cage. Experimental results demonstrated that this scheme not only resolved the signal loss problem caused by slip ring wear but also effectively reduced equipment maintenance costs.
