Application of Distributed Temperature Measurement Technology Based on Multimode Germanium-Doped Raman High-Scattering Special Optical Fiber in Intelligent Early-Warning Cables

    • A novel application scheme of multimode germanium-doped Raman high-scattering special optical fiber (Ge-Raman fiber) in intelligent monitoring of power cables was proposed in the paper. Through a stability-enhanced process, the fiber could exhibit an attenuation of 0.354 dB·km–1 after exposure to a production environment exceeding 200 ℃, ensuring operational sensitivity. Based on optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) technology, the intelligent early-warning cable system could enable distributed temperature sensing (DTS), with a temperature measurement accuracy of ±0.05 ℃, a positioning accuracy of 0.1 m, and a temperature measurement time of 5 s. It was expected to reduce average response time of power system damage to within 10 s.
